Gift a child with an education for just 50p a day

Here in the UK we are very fortunate to have access to free education. Every child has the opportunity to go to school, regardless of their background or upbringing. In Zimbabwe, education is not accessible to everyone. Families need to pay fees for their children to go to school. For orphaned children or for children living in poverty, chances of being able to afford an education are very, very slim.

But why is education so important? 

  • According to UNESCO, 171 million people could be lifted out of poverty if all students in low-income countries acquired basic reading skills.
  • If children are educated they are less vulnerable to health risks. A recent study highlighted how 4 million child deaths have been prevented over the past 40 years, thanks to the global increase in women’s education.
  • As children and communities are more educated about the links between sanitation and health, they will see substantial improvements in sanitation.  

We believe that giving children the opportunity to go to school is the first step to lifting them, their families and communities out of poverty. Once we achieve this goal, we create numerous opportunities for the individuals to flourish.

At CBF, we are passionate about working with children on a long term, one-to-one basis. Our child sponsorship programme ensures that each child’s individual needs are supported.  From the sponsorship a child’s school fees are paid for and they are given stationary, books and uniform that they need for school. It also pays for basic medical care (and treatment if needed) and ensures that the child has a meal at school each day. 

134 children are currently sponsored through our child sponsorship programme. They now have access to education, food and medical care that their families would not have been able to afford. There are many more children who are waiting to be sponsored and would love nothing more than to be able to go to school. Just 50p a day (£15 a month) is all it takes to support an orphaned or vulnerable child. Are you interested in sponsoring a child?
