Creating Better Futures have been selected as one of Reading RAG’s chosen charities for 2015/16
Earlier this month, we were extremely excited to find out that our application was successful and that we had been chosen as one of Reading RAG’s charities for this academic year. RAG (Raising and Giving) is a student-led society and the official charitable fundraising body at the University of Reading. Most universities in the UK and in Ireland have a RAG society; the charitable trend has even reached universities in South Africa!
As a small charity, it is great for CBF to be supported by students in our local community. RAG will not only be fundraising for us, but they will also be raising awareness of Creating Better Futures. In addition to CBF, RAG are also going to be working with two other local charities: Trust House Reading, who support victims of rape and sexual abuse, and Voice of the Child, who aim to rebuild and strengthen families after a relationship breakdown. We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen and we are looking forward to working alongside RAG and these other great causes.
Throughout the academic year RAG host fundraising events for students to get involved in. They aim to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charities, whilst getting students excited about volunteering and fundraising. The events that they will be hosting this year include sponsored events: ‘RULOST’ and ‘Jailbreak’. They will also be hosting ‘RAG Giving Week’ in December which will include talks and workshops from their chosen charities (we are looking forward to coming along and meeting all of the students who have been getting involved!). Additionally, RAG host many other fundraising events including Union nights out for students at the Reading University Student Union.
